Greater Guyana Initiative focus is capacity building across the Regions in the following areas:

Submissions should align with the five priority areas:

• Community Priorities
• Sustainability
• Value
• Management and Results

• Supports Guyana's long-term objectives such as:
o Contributes to diversification of the economic base / economic opportunities
o Contributes to stewardship of natural patrimony (i.e. non-renewable resources, healthy ecosystems and ecosystem services, cultural heritage)
o Supports transition to energy independence/renewable energy
o Supports resilient infrastructure and /or spatial development (i.e. land use, urban, regional, transport, economic and environmental planning)
o Contributes to human development (equity, sustainability, productivity, empowerment, and cooperation)
o Contributes to stewardship of natural patrimony (i.e. non-renewable resources, healthy ecosystems and ecosystem services, cultural heritage)
o Supports transition to energy independence/renewable energy
o Supports resilient infrastructure and /or spatial development (i.e. land use, urban, regional, transport, economic and environmental planning)
o Contributes to human development (equity, sustainability, productivity, empowerment, and cooperation)
• Includes community stakeholder engagement
• Addresses a priority need identified by GGI or project assessments
• Contributes to community/social cohesion
• Proposed by or can demonstrate the support of local stakeholders
• Proposed by or can demonstrate the support of stakeholders beyond its direct beneficiaries (including local, regional government, etc.)
• Targets a high priority or vulnerable stakeholder group
• Supports or complements local, regional, or national development plans
• Includes a meaningful opportunity for community or local organization involvement
• Proposal is based on credible field or desktop research
• Provides opportunities for local content (workforce, local businesses)
• Addresses a priority need identified by GGI or project assessments
• Contributes to community/social cohesion
• Proposed by or can demonstrate the support of local stakeholders
• Proposed by or can demonstrate the support of stakeholders beyond its direct beneficiaries (including local, regional government, etc.)
• Targets a high priority or vulnerable stakeholder group
• Supports or complements local, regional, or national development plans
• Includes a meaningful opportunity for community or local organization involvement
• Proposal is based on credible field or desktop research
• Provides opportunities for local content (workforce, local businesses)
• Does not duplicate or contradict pre-existing or planned development programs / investments (NOTE - initiatives may be complementary to other programs / investments)
• Optimizes or complements pre-existing or planned development programs/investments
• Utilizes local or locally based partners for implementation
• Utilizes locally available services, goods, and / or technology
• Strengthens capability and capacity of local stakeholders through knowledge-sharing and skills development
• Would not replace or interfere with government responsibilities over the long-term
• Can be maintained by local, regional, national or external stakeholders beyond the investment period
• Includes demonstrable support toward achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
• Optimizes or complements pre-existing or planned development programs/investments
• Utilizes local or locally based partners for implementation
• Utilizes locally available services, goods, and / or technology
• Strengthens capability and capacity of local stakeholders through knowledge-sharing and skills development
• Would not replace or interfere with government responsibilities over the long-term
• Can be maintained by local, regional, national or external stakeholders beyond the investment period

• Provides tangible social and / or economic benefits to stakeholders beyond targeted beneficiaries (i.e., promotes a "ripple effect")
• Proposal includes a detailed and credible budget
• Clear definition of objectives, ‘success’ and desired outcomes
• Planning and execution strategy is clearly articulated
• Planning and execution strategy supports transparency, accountability and compliance with law
• Expected outcomes can be measured and evaluated
• Expected outcomes can be shared locally or more broadly to demonstrate GGI's commitment to strategic capacity investment
• Available relevant expertise and personnel to undertake implementation of initiatives
• Milestones are achievable within projected timeframe for initiatives
• Planning and execution strategy is clearly articulated
• Planning and execution strategy supports transparency, accountability and compliance with law
